Yankee JH3 Yet
another J class yacht for Dykstra Naval Architects is to be build in the
Netherlands. Yankee will be the 7th J Class for Dykstra Naval Architects. On
September 23rd 2010, some eighty years later than the launch of the original
Yankee, Holland Jachtbouw will build Yankee J-H3. Yankee was first designed by
Frank C. Paine in the thirties of the previous century and has now been re-
designed by Dykstra Naval Architects in accordance with current J-class rules.
Building the hull will commence October 2010 at Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw in Makkum
(the Netherlands). A unique feature will be Yankee's propulsion, with a main
engine of 325 kW, a 50 kW generator and a 32 kW auxiliary generator. The
interior design is based on a permanent crew of seven and, for racing purposes,
accommodation in pipe cots for another 21 crew members. Yankee will be
launched early 2012 and will be ready to take part in the J-Class regattas in
the UK June and July 2012. NOTES AMERICA-SCOOP : LICENCE : Autorisation en cours |
