This listing is for an original Chris Hammond "Legendary Yachts of Racing" Lithograph signed by the artist. 3679/5000.
This one is titled Resolute vs Shamrock.
The 1920's America's Cup Race between the Herreshoff designed Resolute and Sir Thompson Lipton's Shamrock IV was one of the closest cup defenses in history.
Despite light winds and fog during the start, the excitement came at the finish of the second race when Shamrock IV led the series 2-0. She only had to win one of the next three races to send the cup back to England. She didn't.
Mr. Hammond has been a marine artist for over 20 years and hails from a long line of seafaring men and women.
Largely self-taught, Hammond's paintings have been in demand throughout the world.
Mr. Hammond now resides in Sausalito, California, overlooking the San Francisco Bay, and maintains a gallery of his work in Tiburon, California.
