Guy L'HOSTIS was born in 1945 in Paimpol, Brittany, into a family with a maritime tradition. Self-taught, he painted early on in gouache, oils, and finally watercolor, his preferred medium.
Sailing in the Merchant Navy for 29 years, cruising, and racing on his various sailboats allowed him to express his passion for marine painting.
Appointed Official Painter of the Navy in 2010.
