Easy victory for Shamrock V
If Shamrock V was clearly dominated on the water, she widely wins for the number of images. Certainly because of the short career of the American boat while the English yacht still sailing. But the book of Harold S. Vanderbilt widely compensates for this with many pictures and wealth of information on the 1930 season of the America's Cup.

Photos of Shamrock V, challenger  of America's Cup 1930Gallery "Sir Thomas Lipton"

Sir Thomas Lipton bequeathed his collection of photographs, newspaper cuttings and memorabilia to the Mitchell Library where it is still housed. In 1999, the collection was showing signs of degradation and conservation was required. Unilever, who now own the Lipton brand, were approached and funded the conservation and digitisation costs.

GardnerWVWilliam Gardner, one of the world’s foremost naval architects, is born in Oswego, N.Y., son of the late William Gardner and Frances C. Gardner. He entered Cornell University when he was only 15 years old and was graduated in 1880.
He worked for a time in the Delaware River Iron Ship Building Company, studying all angles of ship construction in the mold loft, in the foundry, in the yard and at fitting, then sailed for the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, England.
